am just starting out with this whole process of making my own Baby Food. I have a 6 month daughter who's dr put her on a restricted diet yesterday and therefore I must make all of her food.

Currently she is barely eating once a day of only a few different flavours. He wants her eating 3 meals (Vegetables and Meat) and 2 or 3 snacks of fruit every day!!

She doesn't like even the tiniest bit of texture. She is NOT allowed to have Banana, Applesauce, Sweet Potato, Carrots, Cereals.

1. A lot of foods say not to feed them till much older (like meat) - is there any special way I need to prepare it?

2. When making meat do you use a special peice or table food? If it's meat you have cooked for the whole family, what about the seasoning you have put on it (I'm thinking like a roast)?

3. Recommendations for other Fruits or vegetables I can make for a 6 month old that will puree smooth?

Thank you so much! I am sure I will have more questions as I start on this adventure.

Hi,
I would first like to say that I think your questions really should be answered by a pediatrician. In my opinion, having a 6 month old eat 3 meals a day AND snacks of fruit 2x3 times a day is rather extreme and may put her health at risk. A baby needs to have its main source of nutrition, especially at such a young age, come from breastmilk and/or formula.

You say she cannot have the foods that are most recommended as beginner foods - these foods are beginner foods because they are amongst other things, the most easily digested by a tiny tummy.

As for meats - I find it odd that your doctor would recommend meat if there are issues such that your baby needs a restricted diet. Meat is not easy to digest at all and that's why they say to wait until 8-12months old (recomendations vary)

Homemade meat is not smooth and you say she cannot tolerate texture, she will probably have issues with homemade meats due soley to its texture.

I am really not too sure what other food items there are esp. since she has a restricted diet and you didnt say what for. Have you been sent to consultation with a pediatric nutritionist?

Sorry not too helpful but I really feel that your question is most suited to be answered by a specialist!

Goodluck
