My 4 month old daughter got the ok to start with solids however my doctor was pretty vague on how to start it. I know that the formula is the most important thing so my question I guess is, how? So do I feed her some rice cereal after one of her bottles for a week or so then start with the cereal after two bottles or what? At what point do I start with fruit/veggies? I don't want to rush her so I'd like to know what other parents are doing.
Thanks

Hi,
I recommend giving your baby some rice cereal for about a 2 weeks before starting veggies. I always start veg before fruit because once they taste the sweet fruit you can forget the veg. I generally give them the solid food right after a bottle/bf. Keep doing this for about 4 weeks then up it to twice a day ok!!

We started our son on rice cereal at 5 months...2 tablespoons mixed with one scoop formula and water in the evenings. We just added on as he indicated...you start noticing when they are hungry. With in 2 weeks he was eating the same thing but once in the morning and once in the evening. At six months we added in single grain baby oatmeal. And once it seemed like his digestive system got used to this (they ten to get constipated with the rice and other cereals)we started him on green veggies first, 1 new veggie every 5 days (you do this to check for allergies), then yellow and orange veggies, then fruits...this should take you to about 8 months then they can usually start on finger foods.
Hope this helps!!!
