:( My little girl has had a problem with her skin since she was born. She went through the baby acne and red patches everywhere also cradle cap. It all seemed to go away except her scratching at her skin. She will scratch herself raw in certain places. Im not sure if this is just a habit or what! She scratches at her arms and her ankles the most. Is there some kind of cream or something that might help?????? help!!

Hi! She is 8 1/2 months old. I had her on a formuala for a little while that WIC supplied for me called Good Start. I switched her to Similac Aliementum and the red patches are gone but she still scratches and has a couple red spots on her elbows and ankles.

Hi,
I think it sounds like eczema to me, but to be sure you should take your daughter to a doctor. If it is eczema there is not much that can be medically done for it however there are a lot of things that you can do to make your daughter more comfortable, for example only give her a bath every other night and don't let her stay in too long, and wash her with a very mild cleanser like cetaphil. Anyway there are a ton more things that I can tell you to do but before I do that why don't we find out for sure it is eczema ok!!! Keep me posted!!

Hi Kathy, sorry it took so long for me to write back. It is eczema, Ive been waiting for it to go away but its not going anywhere!!!!! Her skin sometimes will clear up for a couple of days but not completly. I lube her whole body with aquaphor everyday, it seems like that is the only thing that will help it. Should I take her to a dermatologist? She is 10 months old now.

Hi, Yes absolutely take her to a dermatologist!! That is a great that you are using the aquaphor. Here are some other tips:
1. Bathe her every other day and not for too long as the water will irritate her skin.
2. Use a humidifier
3. Use a hepa filter
4. Instead of the aquaphor use this cream, it's called ELTA, from www.elta.com
5. Get a prescription for ELIDEL from your dermatologist
Hope this helps!!
