Diapering & Cleaning

Our little girl is 11 weeks now. Once in a while she will get some redness around her vagina or bottom. My wife is convinced that this is related to using wipes (we use the perfume free - hypo-alergenic ones) and wants to use wet cotton wool instead. Her sister has told her that the baby doesn't need to wiped every time we change her diaper - sounds strange to me ?

Which do you recommend wipes or cotton wool ? Should we always clean wipe the baby with something (cotton woool or wipe) when changing her diaper ?

I personally like to use the large round make-up pads which is similar to cotton wool, it is better than commercial wipes!!

I use commercial wipes to clean spots out of my carpet!! They are amazing for that!! So you can imagine what they would do to a soft little bottom!!! :)

As for not wiping every time, if there is only pee, then I don't wipe every single time!! Water is also very drying!!
