My granddaughter is 2 1/2 months old; a couple of weeks ago, she started spitting up a lot. My daughter took her to the pediatrician and the doctor put her on Zantac (sp?). The dr. also suggested feeding her only 3 ozs every 3 hours. The 3 oz every 3 hours didn't work because she did was cry inbetween feedings. The Zantac hasn't stopped the spitting up either. My daughter has just tried switching the baby's formula from milk-based formula to soy-based, but, the amount she's still spitting up hasn't changed.

Do you have any suggestions? Are there differences in formulas; i.e., Enfamil versus Similac?

Hi,
The reason that your grandaughter is still spitting up is because the Zantac the doctor gave her is for acidity in her stomach, which means that it won't make any difference in how much she spits up, all it will do is take the acid out of her stomach. She needs to be taking another medication called Metaclopromide, that is the medication that stops the spitting up!! As far as how much she gets to eat, the general rule of thumb is to 1/2 her weight and give her that much for eg, is she weighs 14lbs she would get 7oz. Hope that helps!!

Thanks
Kathy
