HI there,
We are very worried about our little girl. She is 2 months and 15 days old, and we have been trying to wean her. She did accept the bottle on two different occasions but has refused to do so after that. The formula we are using is S-26.
We have no idea, as to whether it could be the teat or the formula. Could you please help us out.
Thanx a million

Hi, Well your right it could be the nipple (teat) or the bottle, I would reccommend either the Playtex disposable or the Munchkin Tri-Flow Bottle, also have someone other than the baby's mother give her the bottle, also you could try mixing half formula and half breast milk that has been pumped. I have one question, why are you weaning your two month old baby??Please keep in touch and let me know how it's going and if you need anymore help!! :)

How long am I supposed to breast feed? In India they say 3 mths. I also need to resume work in jan 2004.. therefore I have to wean her. Should I aspirate feeds for baby when i am away at work. I would be away for six hours.. so how much milk would require to be aspirated? and for how long would it last? What would be its shelf life?. Hoping to hear from you. Thanks for todays replay

Hi, well in the USA we say try to breastfeed for at least 6 months, just because you are going back to work doesn't mean you have to wean her, you can pump (aspirate) your breasts while you are at work. I would pump them every 3-4 hours when you are at work. How much milk she needs depends on how much she weighs, usually half her weight for example if she weigh 12 pounds then she would need 6oz of milk. Breastmilk can last up to eight hours without being refrigerated and three days refrigerated and six months frozen. So there should be no problem there!! I would say your baby will take the bottle alot easier with breast milk opposed to formula. Hope this helps!! :)
