Hi Kathy,
I am at my wits end. my 4 month old daughter wakes at 3 am every night and takes about 2 hours to fall back asleep. We have tried the letting cry and checking and it seems to work a bit, it still takes 2 hours to get her back to sleep. We have decided not to feed her in the night because she is at a healthy weight and should be sleeping through. Please help! We are all exhausted!
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
It sounds as tough your baby is waking out of habit because she is waking up at the same time every night... Although if she is waking up screaming and crying she may be teething.. Check her gums for and signs of teeth or any happenings under her gums as babies can teeth for months sometimes before getting a single tooth..
If there is no sign of teeth moving around her gums or she wakes up and plays then I would just let her be, do not go in and check pn her because that is what she wnats attention.. She may start crying when you don't go in there but be strong all she wants is your attention and if you keep going into her even if it's just checking on herthat's wat she is getting and she will keep waking up to get it...
Hope this helps

Thank you! I will look into the teething thing, is she about the age for that? Also one more problem we have is that she when she takes naps (2 times a day) she wakes up exactally 30 minutes after she goes to sleep and is crying and then won't go back to sleep althought she is definitely still sleepy. Any advice for that?
Thanks so much again!

Hi,
Maybe she is overtired when you put her down, try putting her down 15 mins to 30 mins earlier and try that, if still no luck then I would say that she is after the attention again... One more question, when she goes down for her nap does she go into her crib awake or do you rock her to sleep???

she definitey goes down awake. We have stopped rocking her for a good month now. The thing that is weird to me is that she wakes at 7 then we put her down at 9 for her nap, so if we did put her in at 8:30 is that too short of a wake time for her?
Thank you sooooo much!

Kathy,
My 8 month old daughter still doesn't sleep thru the night. She goes into the crib awake at around 7:15 pm. She'll wake up between 10:30 and 11:30. She gets about 2 oz of milk then. She'll wake up again between 2:30 and 4:00 and I nurse her. Then she finally wakes for the day at 6:00. Naps aren't that much better. She naps twice a day anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
My question is this... besides letting her cry it out, what else can we do? Do you know of a "baby coach" that can come to the house to observe and tell us what we are doing wrong? Do you do that sort of thing? Please help.
Thanks
