crying instead of sleeping

Hi kathy,

I have 5 weeks old girl.
She practically does not sleep after feeding.
Instead she cries, even when she is in my or my husband hands.
And she spits up a lot. Even 2 hours after feeding.
Sometimes the food comes oout of her like a fountain through her mouth and her nose as well.
We tried Zantac - does not seem to help.
She may fall asleep while on my hands or in her car seat.
As soon as I put her in the crib, 5 mins later she cries like crasy again.
Not all the time, but in 90%.
And we already elevated one side of the bed - does not help.

We have this problem since she is 2 weeks.

I just wish you have an answer.

Hi,
It sounds as though your baby has pretty severe gastric reflux disease.. I would ask your doctor for some medication called metaclopromide (spelling may be incorrect). As well as keeping her on the Zantac. The Zantac takes away the burning feeling your daughter is having after she eats, it's like heartburn. The metaclopromide will help to stop the spitting up.. That is why she is not sleeping!!
