Hi!
My son was getting mostly breastmilk until 6 weeks. After that we got the Good Start with DHA/ARA. When we were at his pediatrician visit, we were discussing how expensive it was, and how he seemed to have some gas. He suggested getting regular Good Start without the additives. Because he was breastfed for several weeks, I felt confident that he got a lot of the DHA/ARA naturally. Some babies do not do well with the DHA/ARA additives, it can actually make them gassy, etc. We switched him to the regular Good Start Supreme (purple can) and he did WONDERFULLY! He never had any gas, no spit up, it was great stuff!
I plan to BF next time around, but definately will only use Good Start when I supplement or if we switch to formula. It is really a gentle formula!
The DHA/ARA part is really a preference. Of course there is a lot of research on their benefits, but it's still pretty debatable. Formulas without the lipids give babies complete nutrition.
Once your little one is a certain age, you can start giving them those lipids naturally in their diet. (eggs, fish, etc) There are many sources of omega 3 and essential fats.

I use the stuff without the DHA/ARA simply because both my sister and sis in law said their babies couldn't tolerate it...but did fine with the regular good start. I don't know if this stuff is really as great as they say it "might" be. The regular works great for us, so we'll just stick with it.
