hello hello helpers!?

our incredibly great 5 months old Izza Rosa from Amsterdam, the Netherlands
has been very active from the start. We love her for that, even the doctor was amazed at her speed and activity. We (the parents) are not extremely regular in our bedtimes, and wonder if this affects Izza. We are very quiet though, in the next room, but since she was appr. 3 1/2 months she does not want to sleep unless we do so as well. She will not sleep in her bed at all anymore, so we put her (after she falls asleep after drinking) in our bed.
She will sleep maybe 20 minutes and then absolutely not anymore untill we go to bed as well. (So she is improving us already!) This will be around 12-1 o'clock.
We don't let her cry alone at all, we soothe her with lights low etc. but no sleep untill we are in bed with her. I have been reading on this site some stories about letting the baby cry and that that's o.k., but that was for older babies. How about a 5 month old baby? We try all soothing tecniques, but to let her cry alone for a long period, we just cannot. OR CAN WE?

Hi,
Wow, you guys must be soooooooo tired!!!!!!
Well here is what I would do, I would put my baby to bed and tell him/her that Mommy is going to leave now and that she is gong to sleep, then I would leave the room. Your baby will probably cry :( , that is ok!! No baby has ever been hurt from crying!!! I would let her cry for probably about 2-3 minutes then I would go into her and cuddle her and tell her Mommy loves her but that she has to go sleep, then I would leave the room. This time I would try to stay out for 5 minutes but if I couldn't that is ok!! Then I would go back into the room and do the same thing!!! I would then keep doing this but trying to stay out a little bit longer each time, and if she is calming herself down I wouldn't go in. I would keep doing this until she went to sleep. I would feel comfortable doing this because I would know that it is for her own benefit to learn how to go to sleep in her own bed by herself, and knowing that I am teaching her somthing valuable!!! Goodluck!! :D

Hello Auzzie!
this is this is izzarosa
thanks for your info, something like you suggested is what we will do, but not before 6 months probably. According to a lot of opinions that will be the time Izza will be ready for any kind of sleep teaching. And yes we are tired often, but we take more or less turns, so one of us can sleep late in the morning. The other takes Izza Rosa for a walk. That's how we'll sweat it out till she is ready to learn to sleep by herself, till that time she is very welcome in our bed.
Thanx for now, untill the next question, so long, A.
