My son is 7 months old and I still swaddle him. He's showing no signs of not wanting the swaddle. He can typically sleep 7 hours in the beginning at night. But if I don't swaddle him he will wake up within 3 hours. I would like to start sleep training him but I don't think he can sooth himself back to sleep if his hands are wrapped in the swaddle. Should I take him out of his swaddle now?

He takes about 3 naps a day (without a swaddle) and they can range from 45 mins to hour and a half. I notice that he gets tired within 2 to 3 hours of being awake. At night he wakes up twice - sleeps 7 hours, feed, sleep for another 4 and then feed and up within two to three hours.

Hi,
Basically your baby should be up no longer than 1 1/2 hours at his age. You should start weaing him off the swaddle by letting one arem out of his swaddle for 3-4 days then both arms out for 3-4 days and then his little body should be the last to be unswaddled. Here is the schedule that I usually put all my clients on:

7am Wake up & Eat

8.30am Nap

10am Eat

11.30am nap

1pm Eat

2.30pm Nap

4pm Eat

5.30 Quick cat nap for 30 mins if needed

6.30pm Start bedtime routine

7pm eat and down to bed

Hope this helps
Kathy
