I swapped to formula after my milk dried up, and it seems like my baby is eating way too much. She is 7 weeks old and has been taking 4 oz every 2 hours. Her doctor told me today that she is taking too much and wanted me to try 2 oz of formula and 2 of water. I tried that, and 3 oz of formula and 1 of water, but she has cried all day long until I gave up and gave her 4 oz again. She was born 6 lb 14 oz and is up to 11 lb 15 oz. I don't want a fat baby, but I don't want to starve her either. Is she really eating to much? Any suggestions? Should I just let her eat what she wants? Thanks.

Hi,
I would seriously consider changing my pediatrician, there is no way that you should ever water down formula!! :o I would give my baby however much she wants, she can't and won't overeat right now. Babies do not eat out of boredom, they only eat out of hunger!! She is going through a growth spurt right now, they usually go throught them between 6-8 weeks of age. You will find next week her intake will most likely go down. My suggestion to you is change your pediatrican and keep giving your baby the amount of food she wants and obviously needs ok!! :)
Thanks
