I have been slowly weaning my 11 mo. by dropping a feeding each week. We are down to 2. Things have been going fine, and I was even surprised at how easy and relatively comfortable it's been.

In the last week or so, I've had shooting pain in my nipple that is, at time, kind of itchy. (weird!). I have two white specks on my nipple and my nipple is tender. I originally attributed it to my son's teeth scraping my nipple sometimes when he eats. Now I'm wondering about a yeast infection.

Now this morning I felt a lump in my breast above my nipple. My first thought is a clogged duct, since I had one once before very early on. I relieved it by increasing my son's feeds, pumping, massaging and hand expressing.

Since I'm weaning and don't want to increase my supply, how to I relieve a clogged duct, assuming that is what it is?

I have a drs appointment in two days, but I'd love some relief in the meantime.

Hi,
I would take warm showers and massage your breat, pumping just a little bit, say 5 mins wouldn't hurt. However definately get checked out by your dr asap.
