Hello:

My daughter has been a great night sleeper and napper for the past several months. I would lay her down and she would talk to herself a little and move around, but go to sleep in a few minutes. She learned to pull up about a week and a half ago and ever since then she does NOT want to lay down in her crib. We went 3 days with no naps and she was so crabby. I put her down and she would stand up immediately. She would bounce for a while and then start making her way around the crib until she gets mad and starts crying. I guess I feel a little nervous leaving her in there standing and screaming -- kind of worried she will fall and hurt herself! The other day I started rocking her until she was extremely drowsy or lightly sleeping and then put her down. Am I starting a bad habit or do you think I'll be able to put her back down to sleep awake after the novelty of standing wears off? Anyone one else had this problem or any ideas of how I can get her to lay down and sleep?

Hi,
I know this seems like a very hard time for you and your baby, but it won't last forever!!!
This is probably not what you want to hear but you need to let your daughter work this one out on her own, even if this means a few days without naps, because if you keep rocking her you will have started this horrible habit that is going to be worse for you and her to break!!! I mean it, just let your daughter work this one out, she will eventually work out how to sit down and and then eventually go to sleep, I promise!! It happens with all babies!!

I am having EXACTLY the same problem. Just now, I crawled into my son's crib to pat him on the back and get him to sleep. It's like he's forgotten how to sleep now that he knows how to pull himself to a stand. Is anything working??? Is this creating a really bad habit? I just don't know how to get him to nap otherwise. It's nice to know that somebody else is going through the same thing because no friends of mine have babies who did this.

Hi,
My son did exactly the same thin, all I did was just ignore him and after one week he just learnt how to sit back down! I know it's so hard to ignore them when they are crying but beleive me it was in his best interest because if I did not then how would he ever learn to sit back down again.
