I am currently giving my 9 week old 4 oz of formula per feeding (about 7 times over 24 hours). My dr. says babies should not have more than 32 oz a day. However, does anyone else feed more at 9 weeks? Also, should I start feeding her 5 or 6 oz and feed her less than every 3 hours to keep it under 32oz? I am trying to get her to start sleeping through the night and would appreciate any ideas with feeding to help. for example, should I start giving her 6 oz at 11pm or something?

my son is 9 weeks old and he's eating 6 oz every 3-4 hours. i give him his last feeding at about 11pm, and he usually sleeps until about 7 am. his doctors have said that he's doing great weight-wise, and i read in a magazine article that most babies my 2 months can be given 5-6 oz every 3 hours and it's perfectly healthy. i hope this has helped.

Hi,
Here is a rule of thumb, divide your baby's weight by 2 and that is how much formula/breastmilk he should be taking, so for eg. if he weighs 10.6lbs round that up to 11 and the answer is 5.5. So I would offer him 5.5 oz in a bottle at every feed. I would start giving him his last nightime bottle at 10-11pm. If you would like I can do telephone consultation regarding the sleep thing because it's way too much to write here and I need to ask questions etc.
Goodluck
