Hi I have been really worrying as what i should do? My problem is with my 8mth old sweetie. She weighs just 15lbs (she was 6.11 when she was born). I feel she is on very lower side bcoz both hubby and me are petite (5.3 and 5.6 and small built). I just want her to eat more and gain some weight. She was having avg of 18oz of formula and about 2tbsp of soild in b/w bottle until a month ago when doc advised me that she should have atleast 20-24oz of formula every day. My problem is if i offer her soild, she doesnt take enough formula that day or she just vomits later in the day bcoz she would have been full (Thats my guess anyway!). So since a month i have stopped feeding her any solids completely and trying to feed her the formula as much as i can. Now she takes about 20-24oz which i am happy about. But am i doing the right thing of not giving her any solids now???? Will she gain weight even otherwise? She has been a pretty healthy baby so far, my only concern is about her weight. I have been reading moms saying the babies taking 4-8tbsp of solids and so on. I get very worried thinking about my baby's intake. What should i do? Any advice will be so helpful. I am not able to enjoy the days with my baby bcoz i will be thinking about her feeding all the time. Am i on the right path???? Please help.....

Hello. Breastmilk and/or formula have many more calories (ounce per ounce) than do solids. Plus, they provide baby w/ all of the nutrition that she needs throughout her first year. So, that is most important.
Have you tried just playing around a bit with offering her solids? Such as offering them right after a bottle, waiting an hour after a bottle and then offering them, etc.? I think it would be fine to do this a little to begin experimenting. Just try and keep her formula intake up, and if you give her cereal mix that w/ some formula as well.

Goodluck
